You may remember American sweetheart and TIME Magazine’s 20-time consecutive cover man, Jerry Trainor, from his work as lovable oddball Spencer Shay on iCarly, or as lovable oddball Crazy Steve on Drake and Josh. But what you may not know is that Trainor has been in more than just the two most influential Nickelodeon shows of all-time -- he’s actually had roles both big and small in some of the most-loved and well-known shows throughout the past few decades. So, without further ado, here are the top 5 shows that you probably never realized Jerry Trainor was in: 1. Macolm in The Middle Don’t believe me? Well, the above shot-reverse shot doesn’t lie, people! Indeed, in 2001, Jerry Trainor starred in Season 2, episode 24 (“Evacuation”) of Malcolm in the Middle in the coveted role of “Guardsman.” As you can tell from his serious expression and camo attire, he frickin nailed it. 2. Seinfeld Everyone knows that Seinfeld is one of the most influential comedies to ever come to television, but what you may not remember was the obscure, hidden season in which Jerry Seinfeld got into a boating accident (in real life) and then had to replaced by another Jerry. That’s where our boy, Jerry Trainor came in to save the day. Jerry Trainor briefly starred in Seinfeld, and even though no one seems to remember him doing so, anyone who did see it could agree that he frickin nailed it. 3. Tom and Jerry In 2010, Jerry Trainor was on a hot streak and the world couldn’t get enough. Around the same time, classic cartoon program Tom and Jerry, which dates back to 1940, was getting stale and losing viewers. In an effort to reach a newer, younger audience, Tom and Jerry replaced Jerry the Mouse with Jerry the Trainor for a few seasons. A lot of haters said it could never work, but in the end, he saved the cartoon industry and frickin nailed it. 4. Teletubbies You may remember the baby face in the sun (it’s real, okay, I’m not crazy!!) from popular and weird children's’ show Teletubbies, but uhhh who even was he?! In an effort to humanize the Sun Baby and flesh out his character, there was one episode which showed the Sun Baby all grown up, played by -- you guessed it -- Jerry Trainor. He frickin nailed it. 5. I Love Lucy Let’s face it -- we all saw this one coming. But for those of you who may not be familiar, Jerry Trainor invented the time machine, went back in time to 1955, and then portrayed Lucy Ricardo for a season of I Love Lucy, fulfilling a lifelong goal of his and changing lives of viewers around the world, and frickin nailing it as he did.
Jerry Trainor is a hero, and his legacy will live on forever. Amen.
